The mission of Lake Natron Camp is to provide deluxe accommodations to AfricanMecca guests while working in unison with the local community and minimizing environmental impact. The camp operates on a private concession that is leased from the Ngare Sero village where guests can visit to learn about the Maasai and their traditions. Stemming along the edge of the lake is a series of natural springs, some of which provide fresh drinking water for wildlife of all sizes. These food sources attract waterfowl, including massive populations of flamingoes that use the area as breeding grounds. Lake Natron is located at the lowest point of the Great Rift Valley, and the higher temperatures cause water to evaporate, leaving behind soda lakes that support an abundance of zooplankton and algae. The shimmering lake stands in contrast to remnants of volcanic activity and ancient human presence, creating a spectacular setting for adventurists, history buffs, photographers, and bird lovers alike.
